The outdoor play area has been designed by Tessa Rose, one of Australia’s, leading Early Education Centre designers.
Outcome four of the Early Years Learning Framework encourages that children be provided with the opportunity to engage in the natural environment to help them develop an appreciation for the environment around them. At Kensington Castle, the play space has been designed to allow children to engage in safe physical play in an environment that will include trees, grass, bike paths, climbing areas, a huge sand pit and, in the warmer months, even a running stream that children can dam and play in. Kensington Castle will follow the NSW Cancer Council Sun Smart Program and will focus on instilling lifelong sun protection habits. The centre will require all staff and children to wear the appropriate sun smart clothing, apply sunscreen and will limit outdoor play time to sun safe times of the day.
